ENDODONTIC TREATMENT

Endodontic treatment is commonly found in cases of deep caries, pulp necrosis, tooth fracture, and in some prosthodontic cases as a preparation for crown or bridge placement.
To put it simply, the aim of endodontic treatment is to remove the infected pulp from the pulp chamber and root canals. The doctor has to clean these areas mechanically and chemically throughout their whole length. This procedure is performed using special tools designed for root canal treatment. When the root canal is finally clean, it is filled with a special material.
One must remember that in some cases where chronic periapical inflammation is present, a separate procedure called an apicoectomy might have to be performed. Endodontic treatment is the treatment of root canals and does not include crown restoration.
